Tough Times

It’s too bad that much of the world lives under dictatorships. As Americans we were fortunate enough to fight our battle for freedom when a farmer’s musket was a match for the British soldier’s musket. Those who seek democracy today find that stones are not much of a weapon against a tank, artillery or aircraft.  I wish all those who fight for the right to have elected officials and government without wide spread corruption the best of luck.

Hang in there, the world is changing.

1984

I posted a review on tripadvisor, and it asked if I wanted to post locations that I have been to on a map. I checked it out and it already listed places I’ve been including where I was born and nearly every where else since. I never gave them all this info, or anyone else for that matter. There is a big database out there picking up a tidbit here and there and then they know more about you than you do about yourself. Is it 1984?

I’m not saying anything is wrong with TripAdvisor, I like TA, and it’s just that there is so much information out there on the net about all of us it’s spooky. Most of this info is for marketing purposes, Just go to an auto website and look around, next thing you know you get car ads on Facebook, Google and everywhere else you go, and then you get offers in the mail. We have a DO NOT CALL database, how about a DON’T MARKET ME database? Well, I guess I would rather give up a bit of my privacy for the tremendous benefit I get out of the internet.

It’s not what you know..

You don’t need to know everything about computers and the internet to fix your computer problems. You are not the first person to have any particular problem. Someone else had it before, looked for and probably found a fix.  Just go to Google, type in your problem and the chances are an answer will be found on the first page! Just watch out for the fixes they want you to pay for, there is nearly always a free solution. Even the free solutions may try to get you to upgrade to a paid version, but that’s not usually necessary. The best free program I’ve found for anti- virus is Microsoft security Essentials, the best program I know to remove malware is Malwarebytes from malwarebytes.org.

Don’t open attachments to emails, unless it’s from someone you know and were expecting it. Be careful about clicking links in emails also, they are ‘out to get you’!

Super Bowl Sunday

I’m not a big fan of the Patriots or the Giants, but I hope it’s a good game. Looking forward to the commercials, at 3.5 million for 30 seconds you’d think they would be pretty good!  Wouldn’t it be nice to receive a 1 cent royalty on every chicken wing eaten today?
If you’re in a football pool , good luck.

Just a few questions..

What’s up with all the energy drinks, is everyone really that tired?
Tattoos, how much alcohol is involved with that?
Why would anyone want to hang metal from their face?
Which genius is running the Post Office, they want us to use the post office more, so they close most offices down and raise rates?
